Make native forest logging an election issue

Logging native forests is;

  • Wasting $21 million of tax-payers money every year
  • Emitting 730,000 cars worth of CO2 every year & destroying precious carbon stores
  • Mostly going to woodchips; only 4% of the forests becomes high value products
  • Putting regional communities at risk with increased bushfire risk; old wet trees burn less intensely that young dry ones

90% of the logging industry is already in plantations, but we export 75% of our plantation timber. We can stop government logging of native forests today.
