The bushfire season is looming again, and climate change increases the danger year by year. Yet our approach to this threat has changed little in half a century.
But what if there's a way to detect and respond to forest fires while they're a more manageable size but still too small to be readily observed by traditional methods?
Please join Kinglake Friends of the Forest on September 9 at 7pm to hear from Dr Marta Yebra about the latest developments in early detection and suppression of fire.
Entry is free and bookings are not required.
Dr Yebra is a Professor in Environmental Engineering at the Fenner School of Environment & Society and the School of Engineering, Australian National University. She is also Director of the Bushfire Research Centre of Excellence and Mission Specialist at the ANU Institute for Space.
We will gather in person at the Kinglake West Mechanics Institute Hall, 1055 Whittlesea-Kinglake Rd, Dr Yebra will be zooming in to the live event.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A and light supper.
