Join us this coming Tuesday 21 June, 9.30am on the steps of Parliament to oppose the anti-protest laws, and call for protection of native forests.
The Daniel Andrews government is trying to pass draconian new legislation that will see forest protectors in Victoria face increased fines of up to $21,000 or 12 months in jail for peaceful protest in forests scheduled for logging.
The freedom to protest sits at the heart of our democracy. In the context of a climate crisis, continued destruction of First Nations Country, and collapsing ecosystems, we need to protect this right more than ever. This Bill is not only unnecessary; it is undemocratic and undermines critical civil and political rights.
This event will take place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri First Nations Peoples of the Kulin Nation. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present.
