Explore Hidden Valley Rail Reserve in Wallan with BEAM Mitchell Environment Group!
Hidden Valley Rail Reserve is at the top of the final climb on the old Heathcote Junction to Bendigo Railway across the Great Divide. The line was opened in 1890 and closed in 1968. One day in the future it may be a recreational trail for everyone!
Native vegetation survived the rail era and has now recovered to create a lovely bushland reserve with many different trees and shrubs and a rich diversity of grasses and wildflowers. For more on the Reserve including walking maps, go to the Hidden Valley Rail Reserve Guide.
On Sunday 6 October, Wallan Environment Group with BEAM Mitchell Environment Group and Council staff are organising nature walks exploring the Reserve. The event will begin with morning tea at 10:00am.
